Geraldine Rowe
Associates
is a business set up to help both
individuals and organisations to improve
the quality of present and future
relationships. We do this by teaching
the kind of psychology that develops
respect, self-esteem and responsibility
leading to remarkable improvements in
the quality of interactions and outcomes
both on the individual and
organisational level. Geraldine Rowe
Associates also specialises in the
analysis and reframing of interpersonal
interactions to help promote a sense of
belonging and participation for all
involved, whether this is at school and
the workplace or in the home and
community.
How does Geraldine
Rowe Associates achieve this?
We help people in a number of ways:
-
Through training
-
By developing
personalised approaches for
individuals, groups or organisations
Examples of outcomes that are achievable
when we work with you:
Project:
NOW THEY’VE GONE
Workshops for men
and women who have been caring for a
relative who has now died help them to
assess their own needs and make plans
that reflect their own individuality.
Project:
ALL BY MYSELF
A series of
workshops for men and women who find
themselves on their own after a
relationship break-up or bereavement.
This workshop helps people to get back
the confidence to make friends and
allies to support them in their lives.
Project:
NEVER BE BULLIED
AGAIN
These workshops
helps individuals to get back in
control of their lives. Participants
are enabled to carry out a self
assessment and practice new skills for
communicating their needs and making
satisfying plans for future social
encounters.
Project:
JUST THE TWO OF
US
These workshops
help childless couples to come to
terms with their situation and see the
positive vocational aspects of a
family life without children.
Project:
GET MORE RESPECT
IN THE HOME
These workshops
help parents and grandparents to
identify ways of building households
where people speak respectfully to
each other and respect others’
belongings.
Project:
GETTING ON WITH
YOUR FOLKS
These workshops are
for young people who are not enjoying
home life. The course helps them to
see the choices open to them and take
control of their side of family
relationships. This course compliments
the course for adults: GET MORE
RESPECT IN THE HOME.
Project:
ON THE UP
A programme for
teenagers who are “feeling down”. This
course helps them to learn how to
identify the needs relating to their
own personality and learn how to deal
with the relationships in their lives
in a way that protects their
happiness.
Project:
PREVENTIVE
APPROACHES TO
LONELINESS AND
DEPRESION
This series of 10
workshops is for individuals who have
identified themselves or who have been
identified as vulnerable to loneliness
or depression either through their own
or family history of these conditions.
Through these workshops, participants
are taught Choice Theory so that they
can understand the processes that lead
to loneliness and depression, and are
given the opportunity to learn about
and practice the applications of an
approach that gives them back control
over their lives and helps them to
forge more satisfying relationships
with their families, neighbours,
friends and colleagues. This course
could be offered to a varied group or
to a selective group such as Carers,
Ministers of Religion, Women’s
Refuges, and Young Offenders’
Institutes.
Project:
RELATIONSHIP
DETOX
This is a series of
6 workshops for individuals or couples
who want to look at ways of preventing
break-up. It is not for people who are
already at crisis point, but will
benefit anyone wishing to strengthen
their relationships to be able to face
the trials and tribulations of life
that frequently threaten bonds of
love. The group will learn about the 7
habits that destroy relationships and
learn how to take responsibility for
their own part in the relationship and
how to wean themselves off the habits
of external control that creep into
relationships and destroy them from
the inside.
Highly recommended
for couples in their third trimester
of pregnancy, expecting their first
child.
Project:
BABYPLAY
This series of
workshops is based on pilot carried
out with the National Childbirth Trust
gathering information from mothers and
primary carers about the ways they
play with their babies during the
course of a typical day. The purpose
of this course is to share a treasure
trove of examples that can be
plundered by new parents who are aware
of the great benefits of spending time
interacting with their babies but want
fresh ideas and energy.
Project:
HELP YOUR CHILD
TO DO WELL AT SCHOOL
A series of
workshops aimed to give parents
information about the importance of
their involvement in their child’s
learning and how they can improve
their child’s school results. The
outcome of these workshops will be an
improvement in homework completion,
raised aspirations for their children
and better communication between
parents and teachers. The most
important outcome will be a closer
relationship between the child and his
or her parents.
Project:
MY CHILD HAS
BEEN EXCLUDED FROM SCHOOL
A series of 3
workshops aimed at parents whose
children have at sometime received a
detention or exclusion from school. We
look at ways to support their
children’s progress in school by
fostering closer family bonds. The
outcome of this workshop is to reduce
the feeling of isolation felt by some
parents and to harness their support
to improve the outcomes for their
children in partnership with teachers.
Any teachers who wish to join the
workshop will be most welcome as this
will help parents to feel more in
touch with the school and its values.
Project:
CHEERFUL CARERS
This series of 3
workshops offers Carers a way to
reconcile their own needs with those
of the person they are caring for, be
they an elderly or incapacitated
relative, or through a career as a
carer. Participants will learn a model
of communication that can help to take
the emotional strain out of certain
situations and prevent further stress
in the future.
Project:
NEIGHBOURS
This series of 3
workshops offers members of the
community the chance to explore ways
of getting on better with their
neighbours by exploring their own
needs and the needs of the other
individuals and finding ways of
negotiating satisfying outcomes.
Project:
STAYING TOGETHER
Family break-up can
be the first step towards childhood
depression, educational failure, crime
and juvenile homelessness at worst.
Fortunately most families manage to
avoid such drastic outcomes, but most
parents accept that if they can stay
together and get along with each
other, things will be better for their
children. We offer 6 workshops to
teach an approach that has been
successful in assisting couples to
stay close and, in this way, to
improve their children’s chances of a
happy life.
THE IMPACT OF
THESE APPROACHES
In families:
Get on better with your spouse and
children, your own parents and siblings.
Bring up children who take
responsibility for their own behaviour
and relationships and have a
well-balanced view of the relationship
between long-term personal goals and
short term wants.
In organisations
I can assist managers to understand the
innate motivation of those they
supervise and instruct and use this
knowledge to be more effective managers
and supporters..
